Tianjin Engineering Center of Environmental Diagnosis and Contamination Remediation was established in May 2015 with the approval of Tianjin Science and Technology Commission. The center is funded by the college of Environmental Science and Engineering of Nankai University. The director of the engineering center is Professor Jingchun Tang. The center covers and overall research building area of 2,200 square meters.
The engineering center is a cooperation platform of universities, institutions and enterprises to jointly solve the technical problems in the field of environmental remediation in the form of combination of education, research, and production, and finally realize the transformation of technological achievements and services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Based on a comprehensive and systematic analysis of the urban water and soil pollution status and sources, the engineering center focuses on innovation of environmental pollution diagnosis (physical, chemical, biological methods and ecotoxicological methods, etc.) and remediation technologies, and carries out engineering and technical services, personnel training and foreign cooperation. The engineering center aims to gather high-level professional and technical talents, lead the technological progress of the environmental protection industry, support the sustainable development of the Tianjin's economy, and protect public health and ecological safety.
The main research fields include:
(1) Environmental pollution diagnosis and risk management;
(2) R&D and application of environmental remediation functional materials;
(3) R&D and application of environmental remediation technology and equipment.
